Freya (or Freyja), sister of Frey, was the Norse goddess of love and the art of healing. She owned and was very proud of a brilliant necklace, Brisingamen, that broke into pieces when she was angry. Brisingamne was forged by four dwarfs, to each of whom the goddess had given herself in order to secure the dazzling trinket.
